Wellington Regional Champs, Rumahanga River
After months of high river levels, the river finally dropped and cleared in time for the Wellington Regional competition. The Wairarapa again turned on a great day for this year’s competition which consisted of 3 x 2 hour sessions.
Session 1 saw Tony Houpt land 9 fish for first place from Cory Scott with 7 and Lloyd Struthers with 6. In session 2 Tony again won with 8 fish on a count back from Graham Evans also with 8 fish. Lloyd Struthers was third with 4 fish.
In the final session Lloyd fished hard for 9 fish from Paul Baker with 8 and Tony Houpt 5.
The final results gave Tony Houpt first place from Lloyd Struthers in second and Graham Evans in third.
Thanks once again must go to Paul Baker, Graham Evans and Alan Roy for organising the competition and to the controllers most of whom travelleds ome distance to assist with the day.
It was also great to see anglers from Gisborne and Hawkes Bay come down for the competition.
