The weather forecast for this event was a big worry with a weather bomb predicted to hit on the Saturday but Lloyd Struthers the organiser had faith in the HB and decided to continue on and see what developed.
The river on Saturday morning was looking good; the day wasn't great with wind and a few showers.
The fishing was good for the first session with lots of one fish counted; Steve Brown did great to win with 24 fish from Johannes Krill with 15.
The afternoon session was hard with very strong winds and the river rising and getting quite dirty by the end; this meant quite a few less fish were measured, Graham Evens won with 11 from Johannes and Steve with 7 and Paul Dewar with 6.
Steve was winning after two sessions from Johannes and Tony Houpt.
On Sunday morning was it was still windy and a few showers and the river was very dirty so a decision was made to shift the comp to the Mangaonuku River which was clear. Lloyd and Tony did a great job of marking the river out at short notice.
Johannes won the session with a great score of 23 fish from Tony with 22 and Peter Scott with 10.
This gave Johannes the win for the event from Tony and Peter.
