DAY 2 REPOR - 15 September 2006

Day 2 was a hard one for the CD Rods team, it didn“t rain as expected and was quite nice down on the rivers but very cold up at the lakes with quite a bit of wind.

We only had one session in the morning and a bye in the afternoon, we ended up with three blanks, Steve on the Ceria, Peter on the Alva and Craig on the Mondego. There were a lot of blanks including the top Frenchman, Craig was one of 14 (out of 20) to blank the Modego. If you drew the right bets you got fish. Some beats have not caught fish for the whole comp.

We had our chances though with both Steve and Peter hooking a fish each and dropping them, these size 18 drys with 2 pound tippet is proving difficult to hold fish on.

Neil got one fish one the lake to finish 14th in his group and John got 5 to place 8th in his.

The NZ  team moved in the wrong direction finishing the day in 14th place overall out of 20 teams one place behind the USA, the Czech Republic is in 1st place, France  2nd and Spain 3rd.
John Bell is the top NZ angler in 40th overall (of 103).

Its 8.00am in the morning day 3 and raining but still quite warm. We have  the final two sessions today and are hoping for better results.

Cheers
Paul Dewar
